Sail Away Canvas

WOW. Summer is half way over. It has been a great one so far. Vacation with the honey and the kids got their own vacation (away from us.. lol ). We will be taking another little weekend vaca to Disney in a couple of weeks. We are taking the kids this time. Our traveling partners Chris and Stacey (the ones we went to Key West with) along with their daughter Maggie will be joining our crew to a weekend of camping at Disney Fort Wilderness Campground. We are all looking so forward to it. We all love camping and there is no better spot to "rough" it than a Disney resort right?

Now on to the topic for today. I was looking at the card that I recently did with the sail boat and the ocean sunset. Then an idea hit me. I had to have a brayer about 3 years ago, just because I thought it was a cool item, but I never used it. OK. I didn't really know how to use it until recently. I found some videos on line and watched and watched, and re-watched. So after practicing on a bunch of scrap paper I had the hang of it. That is when I decided to put it to use. I had some canvases stored away that I bought some time ago for another idea that I had and never did anything with so they just got stored in that place where all the ideas go. You know what I am talking about, everyone has that drawer or box that we just put all those items that we had to have for some project and then never got to them. I do at least. So, I dug those canvases out and wiped the dust off the package and got started. I took the card that I recently did and laid it out for me to look at. Got out all the ink colors that I needed and my new friend the brayer and I just went for it. I began layering colors on the canvas and it felt great to see an image come to life. I had so much fun creating this wonderful piece of art that can be hung up on a wall somewhere for all to see. I do not know what took me so long to pull that brayer out and to learn how to use it. So, with that said I guess I need to pull some of those other wonderful little gadgets that I just had to have and learn how to use those as well. There is no telling what I could create.
So my canvas is done and ready to hang up somewhere. So until next time.

sail away

WOW. What a crazy month already. School got out the second week of June and it has been busy non stop since then. The kids and I were home for a week and then vacations started. The kids went on their own vacation this year with their grandparents. They spent a week with them hanging out at their house and then camping for 4 days. I think the kids loved it just as much as grandpa and grandma. Chris and I went on our own vacation with very good friends Chris and Stacey. We went to Key West for a week. This trip has been in the planning stages for 3 long years. We all turned 40 this year, me starting in January (yes I am the oldest), the guys- Chris and Chris in April and then Stacey followed in June. This was a birthday celebration for all of us. We had so much fun. I snorkeled for the first time ever. Little panic attack at first when we started to go out into the ocean but once I got out there, it was beautiful. We took a sunset cruise out in the Atlantic Ocean (6 miles off the coast) to the reefs. On the way back to shore we got to watch the sunset over the water. Amazing view.
I was looking through some of my photos today and I came across one of the sunset pictures out in the ocean with a sail boat floating by. I looked over to my stamp table and saw my stamp set Sail Away sitting there and then a light bulb went off in my head. So I recreated my picture card style.

Accessories: I used the stipple brush which is retired.

Now we are all back home and back to reality. House to clean, groceries to buy, dinners to cook, laundry to wash. Vacation was a blast but I did miss my two little guys and I am glad to be back home. Now we are all looking forward to our next little get away next month when we go camping at Disney's Fort Wildness with Chris, Stacey, and their daughter Maggie.
