Cupcake anyone?

Can we say oh cupcakes? Believe it or not this is about 160 cupcakes all on display. This was for a wedding of a wonderful friend of mine last weekend. We had three flavors of cake to choose from. Chocolate, White, and Red Velvet. All were done with butter cream icing. I made chocolate leaves and anchors to go on top of each cupcake. The colors even corresponded with the flavor of the cake.

To give the Bride and Groom something to cut and feed each other; I did a 10 inch single layer white cake with a 6 inch on top for them to keep. Butter cream icing with swirl flowers.

I have one more wedding to do before the year is up.

Oh Christmas Tree

This card was part of my first Stamp A Stack at the first of the month. This card is one that I would call CAS (Clean and Simple). It only took a few minutes to create one, so doing a bunch would be a breeze. This card uses one of the trees from the set Evergreen. This set was carried over from last year and can still be ordered. It is not listed in the catalog but still available. I love the antique look with the sponging of Crumb Cake.

Evergreen 127973 (clear) $18.95 127970 (wood) $25.95

Change of crafts

With all of  the card making I have been doing, it was time for a change of craftiness. A good friend's son turned 18 and she wanted to surprise him with a cake. So I got the honor to make it for him.

The skull and crossbones was done as a frozen butter cream transfer. I have played around with this technique and I really like it. I loved how the image turned out. When you do frozen butter cream transfers- the images are more like a 3-D image as it stands out on the cake. Almost like a plaque.

I was very happy to find out that Shane and all of his friends loved the cake.

Shower Time

With weddings in the air --- comes showers right?????
This card is what you would call a hybrid card. It is part digital and part getting the hands dirty with ink.

The Bride and Groom on the bike is from My Digital Studio. I was not originally going for the two-tone look but I did not realize that my printer was just about out of ink when I printed them off. But I just loved the look of it so I went with it. I printed 4 of those images out on Neutral White card stock. Cut those down to fit an A2 card. This card was going to the bride of the invitations that I made. So I used the leftover flowers and ribbon to stay within the same color theme.

Neutral White and Cherry Cobbler card stock.

I DO!

Weddings are always so wonderful. I love making and creating wedding invites for friends. Just knowing that something I have made will be treasured by them for years after the big day makes me all happy inside.
I have done several weddings now. Big weddings and small weddings. They are all so much fun to make.
This one was really fun to design as I love fall colors. November weddings in Florida are great as you can still get married on the beach. I am looking forward to the wedding next week.
Ok now on to the invitations.......

This is a normal size A2 card with a pocket on the side to hold the RSVP card, directions, and registry information. The outside front and the pocket have been embossed to give it texture. The colors are perfect for a fall wedding: chocolate chip, cherry cobbler, pumpkin pie, and natural white.

Sounds like yummy desserts to me. :-)

I'm back......

WOW... is all I can say. I have not fallen off the planet, just super busy. We went on a family vacation at the end of July / first of August. Just made it in as school started the week after we got back. That was cutting it close. With school starting back up, that meant craziness. Ally is in 8th grade and in her last year at Jr High and Andrew is in 5th. It is hard to believe that next year Ally will be in high school and Andrew will be in his last year of elementary. I got my "school" baby back during the week. (the little one that I watch during the week- mom is a teacher). She is on the go so that right there just really explains where all my time is.
I spent the month of August finishing up on Wedding invitations for a wonderful friend of mine who is actually getting married next weekend. I finished up hers and then started on another set of wedding invites. So wedding bells are ringing around here.
With the invitations done that only means one more thing... CAKE..... I am making the wedding cake for next week's wedding . 150 cupcakes and a small cake. I have been so blessed to have stayed busy. Word of mouth is getting around. :-)
December will bring another wedding that I am doing the cake for. Got to LOVE IT !!!!

Well I think that catches you up. Pictures will be in the upcoming posts; so stay tuned.

Something NEW for me

Today I tried something new. I have had Stampin' Up! MDS (My Digital Software) for over a year now but  never really did anything with it. Until recently I started playing around with it and I have fallen head over heels for it. I do not know why I have waited this long to play with it.
I have done a card or two here and there with it but not a scrapbook page layout. Well, I had a challenge to do a layout and I took it head on!
After playing around with it for what seemed like hours and hours - but in reality it was only about a half an hour. I did my first page.
This layout is from our family vacation this past Spring Break. We have been taking vacations with our friends the Wynn's for years now. We met when their daughter Maggie was 3 and our two kids. Ally and Andrew were 5 and 2. Ally is now 13, Maggie is 11 and Andrew is 10. Many trips later we are now consider ourselves family.
This layout is of our trip to Amelia Island, Florida during Spring Break. I really like these photos of the adults at the beach. We had a blast that week and are only looking forward to many more vacations together.
If you are interested in learning about MDS, contact me today. I am still learning but I am willing to learn with you.

WOW!

WOW! is all I can say right now. As you know, I started a makeover in my office this week and it is a MESS. You really never know how much stuff you have until you pack it all up and move it out of the room. It took me 2 days to pack and move one little room of stuff. I just sat there looking at everything all over the place and wondered to myself where was this all hiding? I had stuff stored in the garage, living room, my bedroom, and I even put some stuff in Ally's room. But we did get the paint on the walls - with Ally's help as she wanted my stuff out of her room. I got all the big furniture moved back in last night. I am not sure if I like the way I have it arranged but I can always move some of the things around. The only obstacle right now is our piano. NO one in this house knows how to play it has been sitting in this room for a good 10 years being used as a storage shelf. So, it will be finding a new home soon as I want the wall space for a stamp table.
It is not done by no means. I want to go through all the boxes that I packed up and some of my goodies will be finding new homes. I even got hubby Chris to go through some stuff to get rid of. He has one shelf on one bookcase in here. :-).
I want to get it all done by the end of the week so I can start in on my stamping and get plans made for classes. We are going to have some family summer fun time this morning as our local movie theater is doing a summer movie program on Thursdays. I have a cake to do for Saturday so I will organize and clean more in between baking. - multitasking at its best.
I will post pics in the next few days of before (if you really want to see the before... ughhhhh) and after.

Moving to a new level

Wow what a busy month June is. It is hard to believe that it is almost over with. With end of year school activities the first week and then my son's birthday the second week, I have been going non stop with kid stuff. My blog has been put on the side burner there.
This past weekend I had an amazing meeting with some fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators. My wonderful friend Kimberly got me thinking about my business. I have been on the fence about taking it from just playing around to a business level but then something all ways came up and got in the way. I really think I wanted those things to pop up to distract me from staying on task. I don't think I was ever ready to take it to the next level. BUT now I am. And I am here to tell you that I am excited about it. I know it will be some work on my end but HEY that is okay.
I am starting off with my stamp room/catch all/ junk room. It will be getting a makeover starting this week. Today we will be taking all the pictures off the walls. It is covered in art work from the kids and soccer pictures. One little corner has some of my stamping images displayed. I will box up all of my stamping supplies that are out in the open and clean out the room for a fresh coat of paint. Now that this room is mainly mine since my husband has his laptop, he really does not come in here anymore. I want to make it look like an office/stamp room,  not a catch all room with my stamps in the corner. I am hoping that with the room more like an office area that I will have that mindset that it is business. But the beauty of it will be a fun business where you can play and create. That is what I am loving about it.
I have a few ideas on paper that I want to do and I am working on getting them off of paper and into reality. I will share more of those ideas once I have a better plan, right now they are just words on a piece of paper. I am really excited about getting my ideas off of the paper and into action.
Since my computer is in this room, I am not sure how much I will be able to get on. I might have to move it out for a while to another room just so I can stay connected. I will be taking pictures of this project so I will share with you the transformation.
Until Later...

Sitting around and hasn't been used yet!!

So- over the weekend both of my kids had birthday parties to go to. I needed cards for both of them. Ally took care of making the one for her friend. She loves to come into my room at times and just play with all of my goodies. She knows which stamp sets and inks she can use with out asking and which ones she needs to ask.  :-). That led me to make two cards for Andrew to take to his birthday party that he was going to. His friends are twins so could not show up with just one card. I have tons of cards already made up, but the problem is they are all for girls. UGHHH... Girl cards are just easier for me to make.
So I searched my shelves of stamps to see what I had that 10 year old boys would love. I found Build A Bear set, Train set, Little Monsters set, all cute but not for the big boys. I came across two small boxes with individual stamp sets in them. Pulled them out and was excited that I found something that would work. Extreme Dirt Bike and Extreme Skateboard. Both of these are retired Stampin Up sets from a few years ago.
I used the Extreme Dirt Bike set and sat down and started creating. Got the first card done and opened the other set. I was shocked to see that it had never been used. Not only that, it had not even been mounted yet. I have had this set for 2 years and never used it. How SAD is that. I am really afraid to go though all of my sets now to see what has been used and what hasn't even been opened. I have a problem with ordering sets and then just putting them on the shelf when they come in. They get lost up there. So I mounted the dirt bike and set off to create with it. I will say that I did not come up with the designs for these myself. I am great at searching the internet and getting ideas from others. I usually change out the colors to what I have or I change out the stamp sets to something similar. The dirt bike one I copied as I loved the card. The skateboard one- I used several different ideas and made it into one card.

I used a sponging technique to do the sky and hills. I added silver shimmer paint to the hills to give it some depth. Summer Sun (retired) Really Rust (retired) and whisper white card stock. Summer Sun, Really Rust, and Pumpkin Pie, and Basic Black ink. I am trying to use as much of my retired paper as possible. I have a stock pile of it.

I used a crayon resist embossing technique on this card. Ran a piece of Whisper White card stock through the big shot with the Chevron embossing folder. While it was still in the folder, I rubbed a white crayon on its side all over the paper. This way it did not press down the raised areas. I then used a new color that is being introduced this catalog Smoky Slate. I sponged it lightly all over the embossed area. If you wipe the area off with a soft cloth the ink will rub off the crayon areas as it will not absorb into the wax of the crayon. I used Basic Gray around the edges to give it some depth. I stamped the skate board dude in Versa Mark and then embossed it in black embossing powder. Used the silver shimmer paint and sponged it around the image. Wiped it off some and then spritzed some shimmer paint that I made. I really like the way this one turned out.

Thanks for taking a look. Stampin Up new 2013-14 catalog will go live on June 1st. If you need one please contact me today for your copy for only 5.00 plus shipping and handling.

I have been working!

Well, I have been working on my pictures. It is hard to edit them when they are all still on your camera. But once I got them on the computer it was pretty easy. I have a few of them done and will be working on the rest later on.
I did get the photos done of the Wedding Cake that I did last month. This was my first non-family wedding cake that I did. I was really nervous but very excited about doing it. I went out of my comfort area and did something new. So, this was a learning experience and the bride and groom loved it.
This is a white 3 layer cake with butter cream icing. White butter cream swirls with black accents. The flowers are made from chocolate modeling clay that I made. These poppies were each hand made so each one is different. Making the flowers was new to me. I played around with several different types of media before I found the chocolate. This will not be the last time I use this. I had so much fun in making the flowers. The only thing is - you have to work very quickly with the chocolate as it will start to soften and melt in your hands. So, this was a long process just to make one flower as I had to keep putting it in the fridge to chill.

This is a close up of one of the flowers.

Thanks for taking the time out to check out my blog. I will have more up in a few days. If you have an event coming up and need some yummy treats, just contact me. I do cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.

YES it is called slacking....

Yes, I have been slacking on this blog. Time has just gotten away from me with all the activities that are going on with me and the kids. Especially the kids. The end of the school year is winding down and so are the after school activities and all the other things going on over the weekends.
I have been busy with baking and card making over the last month or so. I have the pictures on my computer I just need to edit them and get them here on the blog. Easy said than done. :-)

It is a busy time for Stampin Up right now. The current catalog is coming to an end and the new one is ready to go live on June 1. I can not wait to show you the new goodies. If you would like a new catalog you can grab yours one of two ways. Place an order with me and you can have one for free, or if you simply just want to look at one, you can purchase one from me for 5.00 in person or 5.00 plus shipping if I mail it to you.
I have been stamping away these past few weeks, with thank you cards for the teachers. I did make an extra one of each so I could have one. I am doing Wedding invitations for a wonderful friend who is getting married in November. So those are coming along great. Just about done with those.
Cakes have been a baking here as well. I did my first big wedding in April. That was a lot of fun and a little nerve wrecking as it was not for family.
I am sitting here looking at the calendar and next week looks pretty good. So, my goal is to get the photos edited and get them on here. As I also noticed on the calendar that today is Mother's Day. I want to end this with wishing all the Mother's out there a Big Ol Happy Mother's Day. Enjoy this day as the laundry will be there tomorrow waiting on you. :-)

Kick up yer heels!

It is time to boot scoot and boogy. Card style that is. I have been eyeing the Bootiful Occasions set in the catalog since it came out. Every time I placed an order, I would always so I was going to get it this time and never did. Well, I finally ordered it and I am oh so happy that I did.

I used Crumb Cake CS as the base for this one. Layered with Not Quite Navy and then embossed Early Espresso with the Wood grain embossing folder. I stamped the cowboy boot on Very Vanilla CS and then cut it out. I used a pop up dimensional to make it pop up. The boot is on a layer of Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla. The greeting is on Very Vanilla and punched out with the large oval. I sponged Crumb Cake around the edge of the oval to give it some depth.
I think I am going to make another one of these but "girly" it up. I think some pink boots would really rock it. Can not wait to see what I can come up with when I play with the other boots as well.

Contact me today if you would like to get yer boot scoot boogy on. Right now till March 22 for every 50.00 you spend (before tax and shipping) you can earn a FREE stamp set.

Pool Party Time

Who knew Pool Party could be so much fun. Pool Party card stock is one of the In Colors for 2011-2013 year. I have had this stack of card stock in my files for a while now and just never used it. Well, I pulled it out and finally got my hands on it.
This layout can be used for so many cards. All you have to do is change the colors and the image. For this card I used a set that you can get for FREE with any 50.00 order (before tax and shipping). This great deal is almost over. For every 50.00 you order you can pick one item from the Sale-A-Bration flyer. The butterfly is from Bloomin Marvelous. A set of 8 stamp sets that you can get for FREE.

If you would like to earn some FREE goodies, contact me before March 22. There are about 16 items that you can choose from.

The supplies used for the above card:
Crumb Cake cs
Pool Party cs
Very Vanilla cs
Pool Party classic ink pad
Crumb Cake classic ink pad
1 3/4 scallop circle punch
1 3/8 circle punch
Vintage wallpaper embossing folder
Big Shot

Bloomin Marvelous stamp set (FREE with every 50.00 order)
Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set

I used stampin dimensionals to make the scallop punch pop out. I left the inside blank so you can write your own personal message.
