Big Shot and material

Man, I started a project last week thinking that it would only take me at least two days to complete. Oh Boy was I ever wrong. But I started it and I had to finish it. I bought material a while back to make little rag bags for my daughter Ally and I. They were going to match. I bought the paisley material for both bags and each one had a different coordinating fabric to go with it. I decided that I did not need another bag. -- I know the horror.. but that I would make a big bag for Ally to use as a purse. Then I got the idea that I would try to make it a backpack purse. So I broke out my Big Shot and my Stampin' Up! scallop square die cut. Yes you can use it on material as well. It cuts it like butter.  Well I just went to town cutting out my squares. I ended up with enough to make it a 4 square across by 4 squares down. So I quilted the squares and then sewed them into strips. Put it all together and the quilted the large square. Added the straps for the backpack and then the backpack came together. After running out of thread and other family activities that got in the way I finally got it done this afternoon. It rained pretty much all day here, so we did not go anywhere and I was able to sit down and get it all done.
Well, Ally loved it. So that is all that matters. She will take it to school with her when it starts back in two weeks. She is starting Junior High so she is excited to have a "cool" bag to take.
So, I will make more of these and who knows maybe some will get them for birthday presents... :-)

Until next time.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

I know what you are thinking. Man how can you think about Christmas with 100 degree weather in July. Well, when it comes to making homemade Christmas cards each year you have to start thinking early. You do not want to wait until November and realize that you need 50 or more cards to send out. Trust me I know as this happened a few years ago to me. So last year I started doing my Christmas cards in July and by the time November came around I was all set to just address the envelopes and mail out. The hardest part I had to do was buy the stamps.
I did this with the help of Christmas stamp a stacks- SAS. What is this you ask? Well, I am glad you asked.
I design the cards and if you like them you plan to come to my house on the days that I do the SAS. I have everything cut out and ready for you to make your stack of cards. You do the stamping and assembling. The stacks are anywhere from 5 cards to 20 cards. They are of the same design. The card can be simple or advance. Prices start at 10.00 and will go up depending on how many cards you make. I will hold two classes in one week, one during the weekday and one on that Saturday. The first class will be Wednesday July 18 at 11:00 and then I will hold another one with the same card design that Saturday July 21 at 11:00. If you are interested in coming to the first class please contact me. More classes will be available. My goal is to do one at least once a month till November.
This month's design is:
We will start off with something very simple. This is a simple one layer card using the Big Shot, glitter and one of my favorite stamp sets, Zoo Review. All cards do come with envelopes.
Prices for this card will be:
5 for $10, 10 for $20, 15 for $25, 20 for $30
All you have to do is let me know what date works for you and how many you would like to do. I will have everything cut and ready to go. All you have to do is show up and have fun stamping.

Time goes by too fast

Sometimes I just want time to stand still. It goes by so fast. These past few months have been so busy with kids and school and everything that they both do outside of school. I was hired to do wedding invitations and I was super busy with those. The bride to be needed 100 save the dates, wedding invites with the RSVPs. So that kept me really busy. Along with the 50 Thank You cards she needed also. The best part about it all was that she let me come up with the design. She gave me the colors and an idea on what she wanted and let me do all the designing. I had fun coming up with several designs for her to choose from. When she picked out the one she liked all I had to do was get busy. I had a few months to get it all done as she gave me plenty of time to do it all. It was so excited to see the look on her face when I gave them all to her. She loved them. ( YEAH... ).
What was so cool was that after about a week or so of her receiving her Save the Date cards, I got one in the mail and then received the invitation later. Well her wedding is coming up next week and I can not wait to attend.
Kids have all finished school and have been out for the summer for a few weeks now.  The last day of school was an emotional one for me. Ally is leaving elementary school. She had a hard time the last few days of school. It is really hard to believe that my baby girl is going off to Jr High next year. What is next, High School and then College.. haha. She didn't want to leave her only school that she has been to. She started Kindergarten there and is now leaving. But I did tell her that she will not loose all ties there as we still have her brother there. He is going into 4th grade. Man talk about wanting time to stand still.
We did a big family vacation to the mountains. - First time for us all. We all fell in love with the Smokey Mountains. This was the first vacation that we didn't want to come home. Usually we are all ready by the end of vacation to go home and back to our stuff, but not this one. We had so much fun hiking the mountain trails, climbing to very high peaks. We did some of what I am calling "whitewater" tubing and even did horseback riding along the mountain edges. Now we are home and back to our ordinary life.
Ok so now we are all home and back to work for the hubby and for me trying to entertain the kidos for the rest of the summer break. I have been stamping as much as I can since I finished the wedding package. I will have some pics of the cards that I have done. But for now I will leave you with the wedding invitations.
I am wanting to do some classes this summer and get back into doing classes and clubs. I am also up to doing a stamp party for a girls night out.  If interested just get in touch with me.
Until then,
HAPPY STAMPIN

I used Stampin Up supplies with the exception of the ribbon and the 5*7 envelopes for the invitation. Whisper White, Basic Black. I did this digitally using Wedding Sweet images. This was my first time using the digital images and I must say that it was a lot of fun. I was able to place the swirls where I wanted them and the size them to the right size for the cardstock sizes. The black background card stock was embossed with the Vintage wallpaper folder. I added the rhinestones to the points of the swirls to give it some bling.

I am available for all types of invitation needs and party favors as well.
